Top-down, bottom-up
The version we sell most in bedrooms and street-facing bathrooms drops from the top as well as rising from the bottom. You get daylight over the top half of the window and a solid panel across the bottom half, which is exactly what you want at eye level on a front elevation.
Double cell or single
A single 9/16" cell is enough for most rooms. We move to a double cell on rooms with a real heat problem — a bonus room over a garage, a sunroom, a wall of glass facing due west. It costs more and it insulates measurably better; we will say which one the room needs and not upsell past it.

What people ask about honeycomb shades.
They lower how much solar heat gets into the room and slow the loss going the other way in winter. Customers in west-facing rooms tell us the difference is obvious by late afternoon. We do not quote an R-value at you, because the number depends on your glass as much as our fabric.
Every cellular shade we install is cordless or motorized by default. There is no loop, no pull, nothing hanging at a toddler's height, and we do not offer a corded option unless a customer specifically asks.
A good cellular holds its fold for years if it is sized right. Where they go soft is on shades that are too wide for their cell size, so we spec the cell to the span rather than the other way round.
