Flat, hobbled or relaxed
A flat fold is architectural and reads modern; it stacks tight and shows the fabric as a plane. A hobbled fold keeps a soft loop at every rung even when the shade is down, so it looks upholstered. A relaxed fold curves gently at the bottom hem and suits a bay window or a kitchen. We bring samples of all three because they photograph nothing like they look on a wall.
Stack height is the number to ask about
A Roman does not disappear when it is raised — it stacks. On a 72" shade that stack is roughly ten to twelve inches of fabric sitting across the top of the glass. If you want the whole window clear, we mount the headrail above the opening so the stack lands on the wall, not the view.

What people ask about roman shades.
Any fabric will, over years. We use a privacy or blackout lining on high-exposure windows, which takes most of the UV before it reaches the face fabric, and we steer away from the deepest dyes in a room that gets direct sun all afternoon.
Often. Bring us a swatch or a cushion and we will find the closest thing in the books we carry. If the match is not honest we will tell you it is not a match rather than sell it to you as one.
Each opening in the bay gets its own shade, measured individually, with the folds aligned across the three so the horizontal lines run continuously. That alignment is the whole job on a bay, and it is why we measure every one rather than assume the side lights are equal.
