Individual vanes three and a half inches wide, hung from a track and drawn sideways rather than lifted. That is the whole reason they exist: a sliding patio door or a wall of glass gets covered in one piece, and the stack lands beside the opening instead of across the top of it. Rotate the vanes for light, draw them back to get out.

Which way it stacks
One-way left, one-way right, or split down the middle — and on a patio door only one of those three is right. The stack has to land over the fixed panel, clear of the handle, and out of the line people walk. We decide it at the measure, standing in the room with the door open, because it is the one thing you cannot change afterwards without new hardware.
Fabric or PVC
A PVC vane is opaque, wipes clean and is the cheaper of the two — it is what goes in a basement walk-out or a rental. A fabric-wrapped vane has the cloth bonded to a rigid backing, so it holds its shape but reads as a soft treatment and glows rather than blocking. In a living room the fabric is usually worth the difference; in a laundry it is not.

What people ask about vertical blinds.
A bare PVC vane in a draught will knock against its neighbour — that is the noise people remember. We hang them with weighted hems, and the bottom chain that links the vanes stops the swing when the door opens. Fabric-wrapped vanes are quieter again. If you hate the chain we can leave it off and accept a little more movement.
We mount the track far enough off the glass that the vanes clear the handle on their way past, and we set the draw so the stack is never the side you reach through. On a door with an unusually deep handle we will say at the measure that it needs a wall mount rather than a ceiling one.
No. The vanes are individual and they clip out — a replacement slides into the same carrier in about a minute. We keep the order on file, so years later we can send the matching vane rather than guess at the colour.
